Stelios Pericleous Park

The Phin Community Council Park of Hero Stelios Perikleous, adds a beautiful touch of greenery to the picturesque landscape of the village. Wonderful flowers, trees, and plants can be found in the park every season. The most beautiful time of year is during Spring time..

Born on New Year's Day 1954, Stelios (Panagi) Perikleous, at his 20’s years old, was serving in the 211th Infantry Battalion. He has been missing since July 23, 1974, during the tragic events of the Turkish invasion. He was last seen in Neapolis, Nicosia.

His remains were exhumed in 2015 from a mass grave located in the occupied area of Nicosia. Anthropological tests were carried out on his remains and they were identified using DNA. The remains of Hero Stelios (Panagi) Perikleous were buried on Sunday, August 27, 2017, in Phini village.

Kids Playground:

In the playground of the park it is advisable that children are accompanied by their parents. Around the end of 2007 the park was landscaped with modern turf and a playground. Two pitharia (large jars) are placed among the trees in the park. Recently the area has been fenced with a wooden railing and a stone fountain has been created offering park’s visitors cool drinking water.

The park also has stone paved paths for walking, areas with flowers and trees and outdoor seating with plenty of shade for the summer and sunny winter months.
